Professional Wood Finishes

We undertake the following wood finishes: French Polishing, Colour Balancing, Ring Marks, Wood Simulation, Spray Lacquering and many other finishes.

French Polishing

We believe that by using long standing methods, although it is more time consuming, we are able to achieve an authenticated original finish. We professional hand finish using traditional methods by applying shellac using rubbers and mops, allowing time between coats to body up to a full mirror finish if required.

Colour Balancing

We use the minerals and chemicals of the period of the furniture to achieve the desired colour: i.e. Potassium Permanganate & Bichromate of Potash.

Ring Marks

We are frequently called upon to remove white ring marks (Blooming) from top surfaces.

Wood Simulation

We use this skill when asked to put new extensions which have to match the existing wood in the table tops.

Professional Spray Lacquering

For modern furniture we have a spray booth which enables us to spray lacquer a durable finish in different sheens from 5% matt to 90% gloss.
